Yes, great collaborations will bring new viewers to your channel, but whether those viewers become subscribers depends on whether they like what they see after they arrive.
Since you’ll never get a second chance to make a first impression, make sure you’re following all of the best practices for running a successful YouTube channel. In this four-part series, we'll provide some new tips every few weeks, but start by focusing on the big two: Branding and Content.
Branding: Use beautiful and consistently branded banners, icons, video thumbnails, a channel trailer and channel name. Your “About” section should clearly convey who you are and what kind of content you create, so viewers can quickly decide whether they want to subscribe to your channel and/or collaborate with you. For more information on how to brand your YouTube channel, make sure you check out this Lesson on Branding from the YouTube Creator Academy.
Content: Even more important than your branding is the content you create. Make sure you are producing content consistently, so both viewers and potential collab partners can get a sense of what you’re all about. This lets people know you are committed to your own channel, so that it is worthwhile for them to devote their time and attention to you as well. Ideally, you will have already made between 50 and 100 videos before your start looking for collab partners.
That’s the first step, make sure to check back soon for "Part 2: Your Value Proposition."
